Some of the ways First Baptist Church is seeking to serve our neighbors...
Food Pantry
Our Food Pantry is open to all families and individuals who need to supplement their grocery supplies. We provide opportunities on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, as well as special distributions for Thanksgiving and Christmas. During June, July and August, our church donates extra supplies of peanut butter, jelly, cereals, and canned meals in order to accommodate families with kids at home all summer. Volunteers are always welcome!
Clothing Ministry
Gently used clothing for men, women and children is available for clients from our Food Pantry on the church premises at 2 Liberty Street. All clothing, coats, shoes, blankets, etc. are free of charge.
Appalachian Christmas Project
Each year, we decorate a small Christmas tree with the names, ages, and Christmas wishes of families who live in the Appalachians and cannot afford other gifts at Christmas. We each choose a tag, purchase and wrap our gifts, and watch them get driven off to a special Christmas party in Kentucky where they are distributed to the families in need.
Operation Christmas Child
This ministry supports the Samaritan's Purse Christmas outreach by collecting packed Christmas boxes from the church and forwarding them to Samaritan's Purse for distribution to children around the world.
Outreach Sports
Outreach Sports for Kids meets Saturday mornings in January through March. There are two sessions: K - Grade 4 meet from 9:00-10:30 a.m., Grades 5-8 meet from 10:30 - 12:00.
