Pastor

Pastor Scott Stine has been the pastor at First Baptist Newton since December 2017. He is from Indiana, and has had recent pastorates in Pittsburgh. He is married to Kate, and together they have two children, Isaiah and Dorothy Mae. They also have a Malty-Poo named Maggie.

Scott holds degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville and Reformed Presbyterian Seminary in Pittsburgh, and is currently working toward another through the seminary at Columbia International University.

He has two goals as a pastor: First, to help believers follow Jesus; and second, to help curious non-believers find Jesus, whom to know is eternal life (John 17:3).

Scott and Kate love living in Newton - north Jersey's hidden gem. Scott's favorite writer/theologians are AW Tozer, CS Lewis, Michael Reeves, and Graeme Goldsworthy. His favorite hymn/worship songwriters are Fanny Crosby, Charles Wesley, and the Gettys, and his favorite song is Rich Mullins' "If I Stand".  He also is a recovering sports fanatic (Purdue basketball, Colts football, Pacers basketball, and Cardinals baseball). Pray for him!
