Pastor Scott Stine has been the pastor at First Baptist Newton since December 2017. He is from Indiana, and has had recent pastorates in Pittsburgh. He is married to Kate, and together they have two children, Isaiah and Dorothy Mae. They also have a Malty-Poo named Maggie.

Scott holds degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville and Reformed Presbyterian Seminary in Pittsburgh, and is currently working toward his PhD in Biblical Theology from Columbia International University.

Simplified, he has two goals as a pastor: First, to help believers follow the risen Christ; and second, to help curious non-believers find Him, whom to know is eternal life (John 17:3).

Scott and Kate love living in Newton - north Jersey's hidden gem. Influential theologians and pastors include AW Tozer, Peter Masters, Michael Reeves, and Graeme Goldsworthy. Scott's favorite hymnwriters are Fanny Crosby, the Gettys, and Isaac Watts.  He also is a recovering sports fanatic (Purdue basketball, Colts football, Pacers basketball, and Cardinals baseball). Pray for him!
