LEADERSHIP

Pastor

Scott Stine has been the pastor at First Baptist Newton since December 2017. He is from Indiana, and most recently pastored two churches in Pittsburgh prior to coming to Newton. He is married to Kate, and their son's name is Isaiah (sound asleep in the picture!) They also have a dog named Maggie. Scott has degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville and Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, and is currently pursuing a D.Min degree from Denver Seminary.

His goal as a pastor is to help people believe in and follow Jesus, the Last Adam, as He builds His church deep and wide. Scott and Kate love living in Newton - north Jersey's hidden gem. Scott loves reading AW Tozer, CS Lewis, RC Sproul, Tim Keller, Graeme Goldsworthy, JI Packer, and Iain Murray. His favorite hymn and worship songwriters are Fanny Crosby, Charles Wesley, the Gettys, and Matt Redman, but his favorite song ever might be Rich Mullins' "If I Stand". He also is a recovering sports fanatic (Purdue basketball, Colts football, Pacers basketball, and Cardinals baseball). Pray for him!
